Behavioral therapy uses a broad range of techniques to change maladaptive behaviors. The goal is to reinforce desirable behaviors and decrease maladaptive behaviors (socially inappropriate). Behavioral therapy is derived from the principles of behaviorism, focused on the idea that we learn from our environment.
Unlike some other types of therapy, behavioral therapy is action-based and individualized to the clients specific needs. This usually involves a qualified and trained individual to implement a treatment plan written by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

ABA therapy focuses on developing independence, improving daily living skills, reducing challenging behaviors, and enhancing communication and social interactions.
For adults, ABA is tailored to support functional living, such as self-care, job readiness, community participation, and independent decision-making.
